Posted 31 December 2013 - 04:33 PM

It all started this morning. I noticed that there were these strange links on different keywords when browsing the web on Google Chrome. If I hovered over them they said "Click to Continue > by SafeSaver", I also had this "Enhanced Searching" box when searching for things on Google. I figured that it was some kind of Chrome Extension that I had install and when I looked at the extension tab I found one called "CheapMe". I can remove and disable it but when I restart Chrome it's back. In the control panel I found an application by the same name and numeral other programs with different names and developers, some giving me the same "we're sorry to let you go" message when trying to uninstall and some just disappearing when clicked on.

I googled the problem and followed this guide hoping it would fix my issue. However, after I had done that I started experiencing even more issues on top of my existing one. The "Welcome" screen when starting Windows would take several minutes to load despite the fact that I have an SSD as bootdrive, I lost my connection to the internet, I couldn't enable my firewall and most of my startup programs wouldn't boot.

I then got directed to this guide which I almost had lost hope in until I got the part about the Windows Repair (All In One) tool. It fixed all the issues I got after following the first guide but the core problem is still there. I still get the links directing me to SafeSaver and the CheapMe extension is still install in Google Chrome. I was wondering if any of the experts here possibly could help me with my problem. I really don't want to have to re install Windows because it's such a hassle. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
