My daughter upgraded her computer to Windows 8.1.  Now she cannot connect to the internet.

She has a Lenovo desktop computer.

I am not familiar with Windows 8 and don't know what to do right now.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Janine

Hi,

What operating system was your daughter using before she upgraded?

How does she connect to the Internet - wireless connection, wired to router, modem?

She had windows 8 previously.

She connects through a router.

I restarted the router and that didn't help either.

We just tried connecting to the internet with the wireless adapter and she can connect to the internet.

Did Windows 8.1 upgrade do something to the network settings?

It shouldn't have done.

Can you right click on the Start button and select Device Manager.  Are there any entries with a yellow triangle next to them?

Sounds like a driver issue. Might need updating

Download the drivers for the computer from the manufacturer of the computer website.  Then pull up Hardware, and on those hardware items you are having issues with, right click on said device, then do a Update driver, but choose the USB Pen drive as the location for the hardware.

You are not alone with 8.1 breaking stuff.
