Hi,

I found out recently that my daughter was downloading songs from various sites :nono: and though there was no symptoms...I did notice that there was a new program installed called iLivid. I made sure my ESET Smart Security Scan 5 was updated and scanned. Nothing.

Then I updated MBAM and it caught a PUP. I quarantined it. Then restarted.

I then looked up more information online and tried to look for anything associated with iLivid in the search from the windows orb. Nothing. So then I went into Task Manager and found iLivid.exe and ended the process.

I then went to Computer and did a search in the upper right hand box and it came up with several things. I am not sure as to whether you would suggest for me to delete them at this stage.

I am not sure if there is anything else besides this as I do not have any symptoms.

p22002970.gif Please download Rkill (courtesy of BleepingComputer.com) to your desktop.
There are 2 different versions. If one of them won't run then download and try to run the other one.
You only need to get one of these to run, not all of them. You may get warnings from your antivirus about this tool, ignore them or shutdown your antivirus.

rKill.exe: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/dl/10/
iExplore.exe (renamed rKill.exe): http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/dl/11/

  • Double-click on the Rkill desktop icon to run the tool.
  • If using Vista or Windows 7 right-click on it and choose Run As Administrator.
  • A black DOS box will briefly flash and then disappear. This is normal and indicates the tool ran successfully.
  • If not, delete the file, then download and use the one provided in Link 2.
  • Do not reboot until instructed.
  • If the tool does not run from any of the links provided, please let me know.

If normal mode still doesn't work, run the tool from safe mode.

When the scan is done Notepad will open with rKill log.
Post it in your next reply.

NOTE. rKill.txt log will also be present on your desktop.

NOTE Do NOT wrap your logs in "quote" or "code" brackets.

Hi,

Thanks for responding so quickly. I think I need to mention that I was looking over my ESET and found that it did catch a few things a couple of days ago. I was not aware of it till just now.

Also, since I already had MBAM in my PC and had ran it after updating it as I stated in my post, I thought I would post the log of that scan.

(I wasn't sure if you meant for me to uninstall and then download and install then scan with a fresh copy. )

Hi,

I think you should know that also according to ESET in the Personal firewall log file it has numerous Detected covert channel exploit in ICMP packet that have been occuring since 12/27/2013.

And under Detected threats in Log files of my ESET it caught two.  Both a variant of Win32/4Shared.C potentially unwanted application.

One was under a Real-time file system protection.  Action - cleaned by deleting - quarantined.

The other was under a HTTP filter.  Action - connection terminated - quarantined

Not sure if you wanted the name of the files location.

I saw that while my ESET was updated with the latest database update I had it check for any new application update and it found it a new one available and so I am applying it and installing it. It is removing the older version of the application then installing the newer one.

I will run a scan if you think that will help. I hope I didn't impede your help in any way.

One last thing. My kids use this computer and I am aware of something possibly wrong with a hardware issue with perhaps my video card...not sure though. Now and then when my kids play on Free Realms the computer will sometimes freeze or reboot itself.

You may see that in the Event Viewer log.

Ok. I updated my ESET Smart Security 5 to 7 and updated it and did a smart scan. ( I hope this helps)

Here is that log. (I know you didn't ask me to do this... but anyways hope it helps and not make it more difficult.)

From here on out...I won't do anymore additional steps on my own unless instructed.

You never gave me MBAM (not MBAR) log, so please provide that.

Then...

p22002970.gif Download Temp File Cleaner (TFC)
Alternate download: http://www.itxassociates.com/OT-Tools/TFC.exe
Double click on TFC.exe to run the program.
Click on Start button to begin cleaning process.
TFC will close all running programs, and it may ask you to restart computer.

p22002970.gif Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.

  • Close all open programs and internet browsers.
  • Double click on adwcleaner.exe to run the tool.
  • Click on Scan button.
  • When the scan has finished click on Clean button.
  • Your computer will be rebooted automatically. A text file will open after the restart.
  • Please post the contents of that logfile with your next reply.
  • You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S1].txt as well.

p22002970.gif Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
  • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
  • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista, 7, or 8; instead of double-clicking, right-mouse click JRT.exe and select "Run as Administrator".
  • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
  • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
  • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
  • Post the contents of JRT.txt into your next message.

p22002970.gif Please run F-Secure Online Scanner

  • Disable your Antivirus program.
  • Click on Run now button.
NOTE. If you're using non-IE browser you'll be asked to download small file (F-SecureOnlineScanner.exe). After downloading double click on the file to run the scan.
  • Click on Start button.
  • Click on "Accept" button.
  • When scan is done, in Step 3: Clean the files, leave all settings as they're.
  • Click Next button.
  • Click Full report... button.
  • Copy report's content and paste it into your next reply.

This one is the most recent. I had did this by a custom scan of the iLivid file when I found it...as you can see nothing. That's what prompted me to post originally.

Ok,

Cleaned out over 10,000 mb of temp files.

And yeah, I was distracted (parent of 5...yes 5 kids) and ended up NOT disabling my antivirus protection ahead of time before JRT.  :oopsign:

But so far, not aware of any problems. Other than my gadgets removed and my tray icons changed to not shown. But I been having a tray app issue for a while. Not a big deal. I can fix that.

I did however, manage to remember to disable my ESET before F-Secure Online Scanner. And it said it was complete and that it did not find any harmful applications. So no report on that.

Oh, as I was looking over the icon notification area...I saw that iLivid.exe iLivid Download Manager was listed there. Not sure if that is useful to you.

I saw that iLivid.exe iLivid Download Manager was listed there

Download Autoruns for Windows: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx
No installation required.
Simply unzip Autoruns.zip file, and double click on autoruns.exe file to run the program.
Go File>Save, and save it as AutoRuns.txt file to know location.
You must select Text from drop-down menu as a file type:

I don't see any sign of iLivid.

Are you saying that you see it in your systray?

Hi,

Yeah, I am seeing the name of iLivid in the Customize Notification Icon list. Though it tells me that this icon is not currently active and it will be shown the next time it becomes active.

Though...FSS.exe and MiniToolBox.exe, and Objlist.exe as well. All telling me the same thing that the icon is not currently active.

Like this.

Also, I went back and did a search and found this (the search using the windows orb seems limited and therefore comes up with nothing).

But I found this.

Does it mean anything?

And lastly, I wasn't sure if I should ask you about this (as it could pertain to this topic or not) or go to another thread topic for this. Up to you.

Every now and then... when I have to restart, I keep getting a popup about TrayApp.msi. Saying that the feature you are tring to use is ona network resource that is unavailable. Click ok to try again or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'TrayApp.msi' in the box below.

But whether I click ok or cancel it loops to prompt me again leading me to another popup box saying The path C:\Users\FIGHTR~1\AppData\Local\Temp\7zS1E12\setup\TrayApp\TrayApp.msi' cannot be found.

It tries to load...I'm guessing the installation package...it is incomplete and therefore it ends with...try using a valid copy of installation package TrayApp.msi.

I end up just trying to 'x' out of everything till it goes away.

P.S. Thank you for all your time and effort with this. Much appreciated.

Regrading the second issue (TrayApp.msi) upload fresh Autoruns log when the error actually happens.

As for iLivid...

3 files from your 2nd screenshot are located in AdwCleaner quarantine folder so that's nit the issue.

See if you can delete the other two manually.

As for notification area see if this will help: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/283084
