(Old) Dell Dimension 8300

Windows XP

 Firefox 26

Aol homepage and AOL mail

 AVG antivirus

 also malware, and Spyware antivirus

Firefox will not load, AOL will not load..hangs up..sometimes 10 mins later the Homepage will load in an outline style, no graphics, allall words in a list. Clicking links will not load

Google search will work but I cannot click links for pages

Yet Some pages will load fine.... Pemaquid point.com will load,  Mass gov't MDR will load and I can navigate through the page

AOL mail, will not load. portal.aolcdn.com?)

I could get into Bleeping Computer

Pogo.com only half loads...not all the graphics

Newspaper  (telegram.com) semi loads, header graphic and menu but rest hangs in suspension

Facebook, no load just hangs  in suspension

I have run AVG, and all virus scans, system restore shows no changes in past month so no restore.

I turned off Windows firewall...no change

I can't determine a common  factor with pages that won't load or will load.

   Have restarted several times

Have Samsung Galaxy , can access facebook and AOL mail

Have wireless router....Husbands computer is fine

I have gone through what I can find but all seems to be the same

System restore  indicates no changes  (past month) so no restore needed)

I don't want to lose everything I have on here, or have to redo everything... Any clues?

Could it be the SSL  mentioned in another post?

Please reply in "old lady blond-ese"........

Thank you!

I have cleared all caches and everything I can find to clear...ATF cleaner, etc.  There is Internet explorer on computer but I do not use it, except in rare cases.  Tried to  use it for AOl mail or facebook or websites and pages would not load...so it's external from browsers???

Looked at another thread and  via that went to tweaking.com  for windows repair

Ran all that, restarted,  no change
