Hi all,
Im building a new computer for christmas but i'm having an odd problem. If i turn the computer on with nothing but the motherboard, cpu, and ram installed it goes to POST, however if i plug in a SATA Hard drive into the power supply I cannot turn the computer on... the same thing happens when i plug in a graphics card. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

My specs:

Intel i7 3.5 ghz (with Thermaltake water 3.0 extreme cooling_
Cooler Master Silent Pro M 1000W
EVGA GeForce GTX 780
Asrock z77 Extreme 6
Corsair 16 gigs ram (2x8 sticks)
Crucial M500 2.5inch solid state drive(240 gb)
Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm 1TB hard rive (from old computer)

Thank you in advance!

Does that motherboard have an 8 pin CPU power connector on it in addition to the 24 pin power connector? If so, do you have it plugged into the power supply also?
