Hello I'm having issues with my computer that hopefully you can find. It's a custom Eurocom laptop and if you require any of the specs outside of Speccy let me know.

Hi -

All 9 BSODs name the Intel graphics driver as the probable cause -
igdkmd64.sys Tue Oct 01 13:06:57 2013 (524B0131)
http://sysnative.com/drivers/driver.php?id=igdkmd64.sys

Check Intel and system manufacturer for an update, but I doubt a new version has been released during the last 7 weeks.

The Farbar reports lists numerous errors related to NVIDIA as well as PCI and SMBus controller issues. Windows 8.1 usually has no problems locating chipset, video, other drivers needed for a successful OS installation.

Could the Windows DVD or USB used to install Windows 8.1 be damaged or corrupted? Or was Windows 8.1 pre-loaded?

I believe I found the site for your system and am unable to locate drivers specific to Windows 8.1 -- I only see Windows 8.0 & Windows 7 -

http://web.eurocom.com/ec_drivers(238)x

I don't see Windows 8.1 listed as an option - http://web.eurocom.com/ec_model_config1(1,238,0)&

Is that the correct site?

If this system is brand new, I strongly urge you to contact the system manufacturer.

Happy Holidays!

jcgriff2

I will look for another Intel driver then. Edit: Upon further inspection my Intel driver is out of date by a month and a half so this looks promising. Will update as I go.

As for the other devices drivers I saw those in the device manager and could not automatically update so I will look on the Eurocom site.

Here is my laptop model

http://web.eurocom.com/ec/ec_modelspecs(238)ec

Here is the Eurocom website

http://www.eurocom.com/

If you proceed to the product library tab on the Eurocom website you'll see a list of products and the Shark 2.0 is on there with multiple drivers available though they only state they work for Windows 7 and 8. What do you suggest? I sent an email to their tech support asking about driver compatibility issues if I tried downloading the Windows 8 ones.

Does Device Manager show any red/yellow flags? Be sure to "enable hidden devices".

It appears to me that [some] chipset drivers are missing.

Did Windows 8.1 come pre-installed on the system, i.e., you got it, booted it -- just like you would any new system?

Do you have a Windows 8.1 DVD?

Is there a Recovery partition on the HDD?

If you have or can get the OEM version of Windows 8.1 (assuming the system manufacturer pre-installed Windows 8.1), which would mean that you can easily reinstall Windows 8.1, I would suggest trying a full retail version of Windows 8.1 and see if the same problems surface.

Full retail versions of Windows (beginning primarily with Vista and getting better with each new Windows OS release) contain 100s if not 1,000s of 3rd party drivers compatible for just about every system. For example, my 2008-era HP dv7 laptop came with Vista SP1 originally and as of today is a tri-boot system - Windows 7 x64 SP1, Windows 8.0 x64 and Windows 8.1 x64. HP Support does not list these 3 Windows OS' as "supported", let alone offer updated device drivers for them. Vista SP2 is as far as HP goes. However, the Microsoft Windows full retail ISOs contained the necessary drivers and all 3 OS' run just fine.

Installing a full retail version of Windows 8.1 would entail wiping the existing HDD (with a DOS-based low-level format) -- or swapping the HDD out temporarily with another) -- then installing Windows 8.1 Enterprise trial version.

If wiping the HDD, use KillDisk - http://www.sysnative.com/forums/hardware-tutorials/449-format-hdd-low-level-format-killdisk.html#post2850

Download Windows 8.1 Enterprise trial version ISO - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/hh699156.aspx

Burn to DVD with Imgburn - http://www.sysnative.com/forums/hardware-tutorials/5164-how-to-burn-an-iso-with-imgburn.html

Or for a much faster install, use USB stick - http://www.sysnative.com/forums/windows-8-|-windows-rt-tutorials/6223-install-windows-8-from-a-usb-stick.html

You can of course try the beta drivers from the manufacturer, but it seems strange to me that they were/are not ready for Windows 8.1

Happy Holidays!

I updated the Intel HD graphics 4600 driver to the newest one though I had to look on Intel's website. Haven't had a BSoD yet after 5 hours of continuous use.

As for the missing drivers they've always been like that and the OS did not come preinstalled on the system. All of those things have yellow flags but I haven't had any issues with them as of yet unlike the intel driver.
