I have an Aspire Timeline X 38030TG that acts up with the internet.  Basically if I am connecting to a weak signal that cuts on and off the laptop will freeze any program requiring the internet, be it any browser (chrome, firefox, IE, utorrent, or Steam.  I'm not sure why this would occur.  I don't have this problem with my other HP laptop.  Could it be a driver issue?

Please download MiniToolBox, and save it to your desktop and run it, and checkmark the following checkboxes:
  • Flush DNS
  • Report IE Proxy Settings
  • Reset IE Proxy Settings
  • Report FF Proxy Settings
  • Reset FF Proxy Settings
  • List content of Hosts
  • List IP configuration
  • List Winsock Entries
  • List last 10 Event Viewer log
  • List Installed Programs
  • List Users, Partitions and Memory size.
Click Go and post the result (Result.txt). A copy of Result.txt will be saved in the same directory the tool is run.
Note: When using "Reset FF Proxy Settings" option Firefox should be closed.

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.
  • Close all open programs and internet browsers.
  • Double click on adwcleaner.exe to run the tool.
  • Click on Clean.
  • Confirm each time with Ok.
  • You will be prompted to restart your computer. A text file will open after the restart.
  • Please post the contents of that logfile with your next reply.
  • You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S1].txt as well.
Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
  • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
  • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista, 7, or 8; instead of double-clicking, right-mouse click JRT.exe and select "Run as Administrator".
  • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
  • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
  • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
  • Post the contents of JRT.txt into your next message.
Please download Farbar Service Scanner (FSS) and run it on the computer with the issue.
  • Make sure the following options are checked:
    • Internet Services
    • Windows Firewall
    • System Restore
    • Security Center/Action Center
    • Windows Update
    • Windows Defender
    • Other Services
  • Press "Scan".
  • It will create a log (FSS.txt) in the same directory the tool is run.
  • Please copy and paste the log to your reply.

Try uninstalling McAfee, Search Protection, do not allow Citrix or any other program to start with Windows.  You may have to do a selective startup, by using msconfig, to narrow it down.  But the three I named, with McAfee most likely being your culprit for this issue, is where I would start.

actually it's still happening...although less .  i think it happens specifically when I try to use websites like grooveshark.com... I'll have to try this a few more times to replicate the problem.

seems to happen when I use youtube.com too.  Not sure if it's a coincidence.  Maybe this is a flash issue.   It seems to happen on Google Chrome too (currently using Opera/Firefox) but less so.  Strange.  When I try to update flash the install fails to retrieve the download.

Man.  Still nothing. After observing the freezing more it definitely correlates with pages that haven't fully loaded.  This isn't a problem when I have a good signal but when my signal is weak then I experience more freezing while loading pages.  This is strictly only for programs that require an internet connection ie opera, firefox, chrome.  This normally isn't a problem on other computers I use.  When the connection is slow it doesn't necessarily freeze my browser.

SOunds to me like you are having issues maintaining a strong signal. I would recommend getting another wireless card if you can.
