Hi all, This is a copy of what netstat is showing me. I find it strange that amazon.com shows up when I'm not on that sight (and haven't been in a month) I was hoping If someone could look at this and tell me if everything is normal or not. java script:emoticon('', 'smid_6')

Thanks for any help

I have taken the liberty of partially quoting your post, in order to supply you with an explanation. I have made the alexa.com bold as you can see. That is the main reason for your amazon.com connections. If you have any sort of alexa related toolbars/cookies etc, you will likely have a related amazon.com connection. The following link can explain it much better than I can. Wikipedia's definition of Alexa_Internet.

You didn't read far enough down on the Wikipedia page. There is an alexa plug in for firefox. Check in add/remove programs. There may be a program there that alexa used to install its toolbar(s). If it is just cookies, you can delete those easily in Firefox and IE. I would suspect if there are cookies they would be third party and you can keep those from getting on your browsers by using the options in both browsers.

Under the heading "External Links" you will see "Alexa Traffic Rank Firefox Search Plugin". If you have that plug in you can delete it. C/firefox/plugins/ ????(I don't have that plug in so I don't know if it says alexa or what. Did you check to see if you had any alexa or amazon cookies? Or a program?

Guess what! I have Amazon Search plug in---Just deleted it. start/My computer/program files
/Mozilla firefox/search plugins--------check it out-----I am sure how that happens is if you use the search box on the right end of the tool bar. So, we both learned something. you know I never allow cookies unless absolutely necessary to interact with a site--such as this one. I let firefox ask me when I go to a new site if I want to allow cookies and if I click no, firefox remembers if I visit again and doesn't ask. I also block Third party cookies in IE

Easy enough to test--after you delete the plugin check to see if it comes back after entering amazon in the left search box.

I tried it out, the search plugin is still gone but amazondotcom.src is there when i went to amazon.com
So I guess if you stay away from there you'll be okay. Oh well there not showing up in netstat anymore, so thats an improvement.

thanks for the help  :flowers:
