A DISCLAIMER:
I am not using OphCrack for any illegal activity.
I am using it to recover a forgotten password on a friend's computer only.

I have already loaded OphCrack onto an USB using  Pendrivelinux Universal USB installer.  I make the computer boot from the USB and after it loads I do get a rudimentary interface that asks me to run OphCrack:

Automatic GUI

Manual GUI

Low Ram GUI
Text

with each attempt to use the GUI types it only will use the text version and it is VERY hard to use as it is full screen and since I can't seem to fix the resolution a lot of the text is hidden.  This is especially true at the end of it's searching (approx 55 mins!!) and the results are at the bottom of the screen and I can't see the text other than some preamble.  The actual results are hidden below the bottom of the monitor.

Some questions.  Why is the GUI not booting up.  This problem is apparently quite common as I have read this very question on other forums, but no one is addressing the issue.

Is Linux supposed to load either full on or in some kind of shell to run OphCrack?  If so am I missing something here?  Should I have, say Ubuntu loaded and run from the USB as well?  I assumed that by loading OphCrack from Pendrivelinux's list it would have this capability.

Can ANYONE lend me a hand here?

Thanks in advance!

Other than mentioning programs like Magical Jelly Bean there is little else we can do.

Most people and 90% of forums have rules that forbid the use of forced access to personal details.

NOTE : Nothing personal to you at all, but we do not know if this is yours or otherwise.

At least 1,000 laptops are stolen every day, and a similar number of desktop units are hijacked.

Google is your only friend in these cases, or paid professional help, with ownership proof.

Thank You - (and Sorry)

I understand entirely.  I could have sworn I saw an ophcrack forum in here!
I truly needed to use this for a friend that can't remember her password.
I guess I'll try once more and then tell her she'll have to do a complete
re-install of her OS.

thanks anyway.

Merry Christmas!

Again - Very sorry,

I could have sworn I saw an ophcrack forum in here! <= (Certainly not here)

But as listed in the Forum Rules (as partially shown below) we are not allowed to help with these specific problems.

Pornography, warez, or any other illegal transactions may NOT be linked in any shape or form.

No subject matter will be allowed whose purpose is to defeat existing copyright or security measures. If a user persists and/or the activity is obviously illegal the staff reserves the right to remove such content and/or ban the user. This would also mean encouraging the use or continued use of pirated software is not permitted, and subject to the same consequences.

Thank You -
