Hello, I am new and I am very impressed with the knowledge and assistance that goes around in this forum. Now I need the help and I'm calling on the big guns here. Seems I've been hit with the vx2.look2me bug and I can't get rid of it. Spyware Doctor isn't working. I remove it and it keeps coming back. Here is my Hijackthis log. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Flint and welcome to the BC HijackThis forum. I do not see any signs of L2M or any other viruses or malware in the log. It is clean.

Can you give me some details regarding what is saying L2M is present and where it is being found?

Cheers.

Thank you for the response. I was getting constant returns from Spyware Doctor showing a VX2.look2me trojan about every other time I booted up. The Spyware Doctoer would find it, then delete it... then it would show up again.

I did download ewido and run it. So far it has not returned.

It did happen while I was traveling and going through the hotel for access to the internet. Is it possible that could have caused it? Anyway, thanks for the response. So far I might have beaten it.

Bill

It's back. Could Spyware Doctor be the problem. I don't have any other symptoms--only the alert from SD. I've tried several other "Look2me" removers and none of them find it.

Hi Flint. I don't think there is an L2M infection installed. What is being found is a file in the temporary internet files folder which means that one of the websites that was visited has the infection on it. Let's use CCleaner to clean out the temp folders.

Download CCleaner and install it. Start CCleaner and click on the Run Cleaner button in the lower right-hand corner. When it is finished close CCleaner.

Now run a scan with Spyware Doctor and see what it finds.

Cheers.

Just used CCleaner...like I said worked great except Spyware Doctor found this: C:\Documents and Settings\Bill\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\JU47RLOT\imgcr_E13_C18270-4[1].gif, and showed it as VX2.LOOK2ME.....

Hi Flint. That might be. Check the options in CCleaner and seeif it is cleaning everything or just items that are older than 48 hours.

Start CCleaner, click Options and then click Advanced. If the checkbox for only deleting files older than 48 hours is checked then uncheck it.

Cheers.
