I would like to format my 1TB HDD so I can put Windows 7 on my laptop, as I currently have Win 8.1 and it has been a horribly buggy experience for me.  Do I need to do a full format or can I just do a quick format?  Also, the os boots from an SSD, so do I need to format both or just one?

The Windows 7 installation routine has all the tools necessary to delete, create and format partitions. (And a "quick" format is fine). Simply boot the computer from the Windows 7 DVD/USB and follow the instructions.

Oh, recommend installing Windows 7 on the SSD.
