Both Combofix and DDS lock up my computer.  They will start to run but then hand.  Combofix hangs on the screen that talks about this scan taking 10 minutes and it could easily double for a badly infected computer.  I have let this run all night with no results.

DDS gets to the part where it says Generating DDS.txt and it hangs forever.

Any help would be appreciated.  BTW with is on a Win 7 Sp1 computer.

Thanks,

There are circumstances ComboFix will hang, crash or stall at various stages due to malware interference, failure to disable other real-time protection tools or the presence of CD Emulators (Daemon Tools, Alchohol 120%, Astroburn, AnyDVD) so that it does not complete successfully. Also, depending on how badly a system is infected, ComboFix may take longer to complete its routine than it normally does or fail to run properly. While that is not normal behavior, it is not unusual. Some of those reasons also apply to DDS.

If your computer is badly infected and you cannot run DDS per instructions in the Malware Removal and Log Section Preparation Guide...then please start a new topic in the Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs forum, NOT here, for assistance by the Malware Response Team.

Give it a relevant title and explain that you followed the Prep. Guide, were unable to create the logs, and describe what happened when you tried to create them.

After doing this, please reply back in this thread with a link to the new topic so we can closed this one.
