Tonight I've had my Avast Antivirus alert me 8-9 times about blocking the trojan called something like googleupdate.exe. I haven't been to any new websites recently and I have adblock on my firefox. I'm not too worried, but I am running a malwarebyes scan just in case. I'm just wondering what I could have done to suddenly have this much malware blocked when I usually don't get any?

I received an alert last night from WinPatrol that it also wanted to add itself as a Task - GoogleUpdateTaskMachineCore

Checking Plus info provided: WinPatrol on Google Updates – GOOGLEUPDATE.EXE

More info here.

About GoogleUpdateSetup.exe

avast was installed on this machine but it did not advise of an alert so I did a manual scan of each of the following which said No Threat Found.
