The problem began on 12/03/2013 when I turned on my pc.

It was fine on the previous night – just a little slow but now I was having trouble accessing certain websites.

Kept getting the message “ Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage “.

Please download MiniToolBox, and save it to your desktop and run it, and checkmark the following checkboxes:
  • Flush DNS
  • Report IE Proxy Settings
  • Reset IE Proxy Settings
  • Report FF Proxy Settings
  • Reset FF Proxy Settings
  • List content of Hosts
  • List IP configuration
  • List Winsock Entries
  • List last 10 Event Viewer log
  • List Installed Programs
  • List Users, Partitions and Memory size.
Click Go and post the result (Result.txt). A copy of Result.txt will be saved in the same directory the tool is run.
Note: When using "Reset FF Proxy Settings" option Firefox should be closed.

  • Make sure the following options are checked:
    • Internet Services
    • Windows Firewall
    • System Restore
    • Security Center/Action Center
    • Windows Update
    • Windows Defender
    • Other Services
  • Press "Scan".
  • It will create a log (FSS.txt) in the same directory the tool is run.
  • Please copy and paste the log to your reply.

Nothing seems to have changed.  I tried to open Chrome & it gave me Unable to find locale data files.  Please reinstall.  Tried to reinstall & got Internet Explorer Cannot Display the Webpage. This is the same message I get when I try to visit websites.

I removed AVG but it still does not change anything.    I had this site on my favs list & I can go in & post here & in WebMD but when I try to get into facebook or pogo (also in favs) I get the error.    Also have stores on my favs & I can get in I just can't view specific items to try to make purchase.

Can you log into safe mode with networking via hitting F8 just after the BIOS post screen, and see if you can access the sites?

I would power cycle your router and modem, and if that fails reset them back to factory defaults.

I logged off my pc & shut down for the night 11:00 PM.    I disconnected modem & today I powered back on but still have the same problem.     I can view most of my favs but anytime there is video or games it tells me I need to download current version of Flash but I still can't download anything.     I tried downloading an updated version of firefox thru your site but was unable to do that.      

Is there anything else we can try before resetting.     This PC is almost 13 yrs old, could this have anything to do with this problem ?

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.
  • Close all open programs and internet browsers.
  • Double click on adwcleaner.exe to run the tool.
  • Click on Clean.
  • Confirm each time with Ok.

Nothing seems to have changed.     I am still unable to access my yahoo mail or facebook or pogo.    Unable to view news programs since I am unable to download Adobe flash.
