New? I thought SpywareSheriff is a member of the SmitFraud malware family and was detected by the SmitRem tool and David Lipman's SmitFraud removal tool.

That was SpySheriff...the new one is SpywareSheriff...similar but different names. Also smitrem was created by Dave Fear or Noahdfear .

No it does not. SmitRem has not been updated in a while due to Daves other obligations.
