After installing Malawarebytes (mbam), and after scanning/quarantine/deleting the infected files, now I cannot connect to the internet. My computer does show that i'm connected to the network, however, i cannot use Firefox or IE at all. When i open up firefox or IE, it would show a blank page and i cannot connect to any websites. Before installing mbam and scanning/deleting infected files, my computer ran fine. I did try to System Restore to an earlier point, but it did not work because the system said that an anti-virus program is running. I disabled my BitDefender and tried again, but System Restore said the same thing again. Mbam is now uninstalled, but i still can't use Firefox or IE.

I tried Safe Mode, still can't use Firefox or IE. I tried the CMD command ipconfig release and renew, still nothing. And perfmon report didn't see anything as well. The Windows network diagnose system also didn't catch anything. Lastly, i took a look at my Services in the Task Manager, and i was wondering if it looks normal? I have a lot of stopped services, just wondering if it's normal. Thank you so much.

Please follow the directions listed below to remove, and if you wish, reinstall Malwarebytes

These directions are taken from the Malwarebytes Forum Help area

  • Free version
  • Please download mbam-clean.exe from here to your desktop and save it.
  • Please close all open applications and temporarily shutdown your antivirus to avoid any conflicts when running the tool.
  • Locate the file mbam-clean.exe and double-click to run it and follow the onscreen prompts.
  • It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so very important
  • .................................................................................................................................
  • Now To Reinstall - Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Free (aka MBAM)
  •  Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • Untick the offer for the free Pro Trial Version and continue on
  •  At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  •  If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  •  Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.

Thank You -
