My buddie cannot get into his win8 system he is stuck at login asking him for a password, he has never passworded the computer.  This has been going on for days he is at the point on restoring the OS but he cannot figure out how.  Win 8 only lets you restore once you are into the system, any ideas greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the links!  I called to advise him but he took it to a shop yesterday afternoon.  He said the problem is caused by Norton, they will need a day or two to fix it and advised him to dump Norton as it seems to be an issue on some OEM machines with 8.

Well he got a very pleasant surprise, got his machine back in perfect working order late yesterday.  The surprise was the fee, $25, the guy sais it only took minutes once setup.  Now there is one heck of an honest tech!!!!
