Long story short I was looking ofr mods for the World of Tanks game, clicked on the wrong link and got some malware that I was able to half rid myself of.

I was having both my browsers redirected.  They are IE and Firefox, I use IE for college purposes and Firefox for everything else.  While I think I was able to remove the problem, on IE when I goto my schools home page they have a system check which says I am using windows 7 (true)

Net scape 5 (not true)

It also says I do not have several key add ons in stalled, when I go to install them it says I have them installed..

acrobat reader

flash player

quicktime player

window media

in addition my netflix movies are spotty at best

I have been having connection issues for awhile now but I'm sure that is from my ISP I think..

Thanks in advance

Hello -

This may only be a small problem, but we will have a good look first -

Download Screen317 Security Check and save it to your Desktop.
* Double-click SecurityCheck.exe
* Follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.
* A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt
* Please post the contents of that document.
Note:: If any security program requests permission to access the Internet, allow it to do so.

Please download MiniToolBox and run it.
Checkmark following boxes:
* Report IE Proxy Settings
* Report FF Proxy Settings
* List content of Hosts
* List last 10 Event Viewer log
* List Installed Programs
* List Devices (do NOT change any settings here)
* List Users, Partitions and Memory size
Click Go and post the result. (result.txt)

Please download and run RKill by Grinler. A black DOS box will briefly flash and then disappear.
This is normal and indicates the tool ran successfully.

At worst the tool will run for about 2 minutes

Important: Do not reboot your computer until you complete the next step.

* Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode and save to your Desktop.
* Double-click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.
* Vista/Windows 7/8 users right-click and select Run As Administrator.
* Click on the Scan button (only once)
* AdwCleaner will begin...be patient as the scan may take some time to complete.
* After the scan has finished, click on the Report button...a logfile (AdwCleaner[R0].txt) will open in Notepad for review.
* Click on the Clean button (only once)
* Press OK when asked to close all programs and follow the onscreen prompts.
* Press OK again to allow AdwCleaner to restart the computer and complete the removal process.
* After rebooting, a logfile report (AdwCleaner[S0].txt) will open automatically.
* Copy and paste the contents of that logfile in your next reply.
* A copy of all logfiles are saved in the C:\AdwCleaner folder which was created when running the tool.

Please download Junkware Removal Tool by thisisu and save it to your Desktop.
* Close all open programs and shut down any protection/security software now to avoid potential conflicts.
* Double-click on JRT.exe to run the tool.
* Vista/Windows 7/8 users right-click and select Run As Administrator.
* The tool will open and start scanning your system.
* Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
* On completion, a log file named JRT.txt will automatically open and be saved to your Desktop.
* Copy and paste the contents of JRT.txt in your next reply.
This tool will search for and remove many potentially unwanted programs (PUPs), adware, toolbars, browser hijackers, extensions, add-ons, browser helper objects (BHOs) and other junkware to include many related registry entries (values, keys)

Clear Cache/Temp Files
Download TFC by OldTimer to your desktop
• Please double-click TFC.exe to run it.
For Vista, Win 7 / 8 right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).
• It will close all programs when run, so make sure you have saved all your work before you begin.
• Click the Start button to begin the process.
• Once it's finished it may reboot your machine.
• If it does not, please manually reboot the machine yourself to ensure a complete clean.

Please tell me how the problem is when you are finished with these -

Thank You -

UNSUPPORTED OPERATING SYSTEM! ABORTED!

See the note from above ......OR...How To Temporarily Disable Your Anti-virus..................

Note:: If any security program requests permission to access the Internet, allow it to do so.

You have a supported system, and I have just reinstalled the program on my Windows 7 SP1 X86

Please retry with the directions here

Very odd as I have installed Security Check on several systems recently ??

Your programs listed as installed are ....
Adobe Reader XI (11.0.05) - Not acrobat reader => http://en.kioskea.net/download/start/download-1172-acrobat-reader
flash player - Adobe Flash Player 11 Plugin (Version: 11.9.900.152)
quicktime player - QuickTime (Version: 7.74.80.86)
window media - I can not see this listed => Download from Get Windows Media Player

A list of the programs you want, or links to Fresh versions -

Now -

Update your version of Malwarebytes and run a Full Scan,

Post the results back here when finished -

Thanks -

Hello -

Sorry that these scans are not helping as much as we hoped. We have not much else to offer in this section of the forum, but I would like you to post Upwards to the Experts area and see if they can find something. They are allowed to use other tools there that we can not in this area -

  • For Expert assistance, please follow the instructions in the Preparation Guide starting at Step #6.
  • When you have done that, start a new topic and post the required logs to  Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs forum area, NOT here, for assistance by the Malware Response Team Experts.
  • NOTE : If you are unable to complete any step, just post the topic and leave a good description of your problems
  • Please Use Copy / Paste for your responses, and Do Not Attach them unless your helper requests this.

  • If Help Bot responds to your topic, please follw his Step #1 so the team will be notified.

  • After doing this, please reply back in this thread with a link to the new topic so we can close this one.

Thank You -
