My wife has just purchased a new HP Envy (i5, 1TB drive, 12gb RAM, Windows 8) and I am requesting recommendations for protection software and any setup recommendations.

I recommend Avast! Free Anti-virus. You can get the pro version If you want. Also I recommend Pro Version of Norton.
