Hello,

I searched the web for eraserutildrv11312.sys and one of the results was a topic on this site ... an entry entitled, "Infested with Scorpion Saver and Level Quality Watcher."  So .. here I am.  :)  Before I bog down the wrong forum, I thought I would get advice on whether it is probable that my laptop is infected and which forum to request help in if so.

My OS is Windows 8.1.  I am using Norton Security Suite provided by Comcast.  I have had some suspicious activity on my computer, including a pop-up that looked a lot like Norton, but rather than saying Symantac it was misspelled as Svmantec.  I also have a lot of pop-ups on my web browsers.

Recent activities:

  • surfing the web for news articles as research for a class project,
  • downloaded Spotify
  • purchased/downloaded an HUP of Microsoft Office 2013
  • signed up for Hoovers.com and SHRM.org

Other than that ... just quick peeks at email and facebook.

When I started getting suspicious of the activity (or non-activity as the case may be)... increased popups, difficulty updating Quicken, and realization that Norton hadn't shown any activity since I downloaded it ... After clearing cookies with no effect, I decided to download and run Norton Power Eraser Tool.  NPE said that eraserutildrv11312.sys was "bad" but then failed to remove it.

That's about all I have ... I apologize for not being more knowledgeable.

I hope to hear from you soon as I still have to finish my school project and bills!  :)

Thanks!

New information .. Google Chrome keeps freezing.  Norton's Live update is not downloading updates, and when trying to use the link to go to "support" I am prevented from doing so.  Please help!

Welcome aboard p22002758.gif

This is little bit strange.

If this is the file you're referring to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Symantec Shared\EENGINE\EraserUtilDrv11312.sys

it's Norton's own file.

Unless it's located somewhere else.
