I have a Motorola SB5101 modem and the amber light (PC Activity) always used to blink rapidly. Today I noticed that it is on steadily, but once in while, blinks slowly for a few seconds. I called my cable company and they said, in as many words, as long as I can connect to the Internet, what's the problem? I was just curious as to why the change in modem behavior. BTW - my OS is Windows 7 64 bit.

Yes, I always turn my computer off for the day when I am done using it. I have also unplugged the modem and let it re-boot, but the amber light is still on steady.

The solid amber states a device is connected to the usb or Ethernet port.

Solid means no data is being transferred to or from the modem. This is a normal

condition for this modem.
