I tried to download a program from Avery but it would not work so I deleted the file but it seems to have messed up my computer.  When I try to open my Firefox browser I get a small window that has Firefox in the title bar with a red ball with a white X in it in the body of the window with the message "Couldn't load XPCOM".  There is a button below that with "OK" in it.  Can somebody help me with this problem?

I am running Windows XP.    I did a system restore to a point 2 weeks ago and that helped some.  I also did a Malwarebytes scan and that found a number of issues that were deleted but I still have this issue with Firefox.  I seem to be able to open other programs and can use Internet Explorer.  Hope this helps someone diagnose my problem.

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:
1.Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
2.Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
3.Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
4.Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems article.

That link doesn't tell me how to do a reinstall.  If I uninstall Forefox from the control panel and download a new version from Mozilla will I be able to save my bookmarks?  I cannot open Forefox to do a reset.  Is there any other way to do the reset?  Is there any way to get to the bookmarks and copy them to save them?  Sorry for all the questions but I don't know all that much about computers.

I went to the Mozilla web site and downloaded the Firefox browser and installed it to my computer without uninstalling the one I had and it seems to have fixed the problem.  Thanks for the help.
