Hi.  I tried to be clever this morning and installed google chrome onto my pc via my guest account, I use firefox as my main browser. and thought it a good idea to have chrome on as a back-up but, when starting up, the blue screen appeared.   Any help would be most welcome

Yes. Thank you for that.  It seems my computer is playing up because anything like a mobile phone or an external h/d that has been plugged in

seems to get me the bsod., but it then goes into safe mode and i have to restart into normal mode.

Thank you. I do always safely remove anything from usb ports or disc drive before logging off.  The problem occurs next time I log on again.

I have no problems with Memory sticks so i think it is an issue with the WD elements hd.

I would uninstall all ZA software...use the Windows Firewall and Microsoft Security Essentials in its stead.

Are you trying to overclock this system?  I would also uninstall the AMD Overdrive software...and I would not install it again.  I've had AMD processors most of my computer life and the software you have installed...is not necessary and probably results in your system instability, IMO.  It won't hurt to try running without it.

I have removed Zonealarm completly and have enabled windows firewall & Security essentials.  I think the cause of

all my problems is the 500gb WD External hard drive.  I always remove that safely but last reboot ended with the

blue screen again but with the 0x numbers ending with XA

Try not using the external hard drive at all and see if the blue screens continue.
