Slow computer windows xp

Computer is running really slow. I just backed up all my music and picture files to external drive and deleted them from main hard drive. I defragged and diskchecked and cleaned up temorary files. Computer is still running slow. OS is xp. Thanks in advance for your help.

Check your startups; uncheck anything that isn't necessary at startup. If you have pictures and/or video programs running at startup they could be factors


Have you scanned your computer to ensure whether or not the computer is clean?
