I am getting ready to attempt my first build.  I will have my FILs help if needed, he has built 3 now.  I've been in XP for many years and was wondering if I will have to replace older programs or is there a way to update them?  I'm sure it will probably depend on the program but wanted to ask in general. Thanks.

There are any number of sources which can be used to check Win 7 software compatiblity, https://www.google.com/#q=Windows+7+software+compatibility , including http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/find-windows-compatible-programs .

As with many computer issues...I find that the only way to know with certainty if a given program has issues with Win 7...is to install said program.  My experience is that I only had issues with 1 program I attempted to install (but did not really need since I dual-boot with XP).

:thumbsup2: , easily done.  Others here may provide their own experiences, which may be helpful.
