Hi, I deleted 2 partitions (each on a different HD) and then created 2 new ones but when I try to install windows 8 or 8.1 i am getting a windows saying:

Admin: x:\windows\system32\cmd.exe

microsoft windows [version 6.3.9600]

x:\windows\system32>

What does this mean? How do I fix this so I can install an OS to my PC?

thx

x:\ is the root directory on the installation CD... it's the pre installation environment. Partitions are not playing properly.

from there type (one command per line)

Diskpart
List disk
Select disk n (where n is the number that was given for your HDD in List disk)
Clean
Create partition primary
Format fs=ntfs quick
Active
Exit

Then retry the installation.
