Unable to load windows 7

Hi,

 

I suspect that my computer got infected some time in the last month or so. Normally i resume usage of my computer from sleep mode so i never have the need to reboot.

 

However last week my computer started to act up. Any time i pressed a key additional characters got added and when i clicked on an app once it appeared that multiple (too many) clicks got entered and the only way for me to recover was to reboot.

 

During reboot, the computer stayed stuck at the initial BIOS screen. I have a hp h8xt desktop, and the computer stayed at the startup screen (before loading windows). The BIOS screen has additional menus (like system recovery, diagnostics, etc). However when i tried (using F-select keys) to select any of those menus, those menus did not show up. Only the initial POST results showed on the screen.

 

I finally got luck and when i hit ctl-alt-delete from the BIOS screen, i pressed a few keys and finally a menu showed up which allowed me to enter system recovery mode. I backed up my files and used windows system restore to rollback to a restore point of OCt 27th. Since then the computer boots up, but takes a long time to load windows. I suspect this is because the malware probably did not install itself right.

 

Another symptom i still see is that the DVD drive is not being recognized. Again the malware probably "hid" it to avoid trying to recover the system from external media.

 

My only option now is to reinsall, but i am not sure that will work either. I am attaching the DDS.txt and ATTACH.txt for you guys to take a look to see if some cleanup can be done.

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan again:

  • Download DDS by sUBs from the following link if you no longer have it available and save it to your destop.

    DDS.com Download Link
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explanation about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.
