after my Norton Systemworks 2002 subscription expired i kept getting a "renew subscription" popup everytime i logged on, and i couldn't get rid of it.
eventually got fed up with this popup, as it only gives me a "remind me in 1/15 days" option. i tried to remove NSW from add/remove programs but it tells me "some NSW components are still in use, please shut down all related components before uninstalling and try again", though i didn't have any programs open.
help me out!!

Here is the Symantec support page that should guide you thru the process.

The Norton uninstall tool uninstalls ALL Norton 2004/2005/2006 products from your computer. There are two options available:

Norton Uninstall Tool - on line removal: Click the "Run Now" button (skip step 3)
Norton Uninstall Tool - Manual file download (skip step 4)

To uninstall Norton 2002.

Remove all references to Norton / Symantec in Add or Remove programs.
Remove Live Update last.

Then do this:
Removing Norton AntiVirus 2003 or earlier by using the Rnav2003.exe removal utility when Add/Remove programs fails
followed by this:
Uninstalling Norton Internet Security or Personal Firewall 2003 or earlier using the RnisUPG.exe removal utility

If you're still having problems, here are the manual removal instructions:
Manually uninstalling Norton AntiVirus 2002 from Windows NT/2000/XP
NOTE:
This is a registry edit. Improper changes to the registry could render your computer inoperable.
Remember to backup the registry before making any changes.
Instructions, on how to do that, can be found here:
How to back up, edit, and restore the registry

Thanks tg1911.

I misread the first post and thought it was NSW "2004".
