p22002970.gif Please download Farbar Service Scanner (FSS) and run it on the computer with the issue.
  • Make sure the following options are checked:
    • Internet Services
    • Windows Firewall
    • System Restore
    • Security Center/Action Center
    • Windows Update
    • Windows Defender
    • Other Services
  • Press "Scan".
  • It will create a log (FSS.txt) in the same directory the tool is run.
  • Please copy and paste the log to your reply.
ADW Cleaner

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.
  • Close all open programs and internet browsers.
  • Double click on adwcleaner.exe to run the tool.
  • Click on Clean.
  • Confirm each time with Ok.
  • You will be prompted to restart your computer. A text file will open after the restart.
  • Please post the contents of that logfile with your next reply.
  • You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S1].txt as well.
thisisujrt.gif Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
  • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
  • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista, 7, or 8; instead of double-clicking, right-mouse click JRT.exe and select "Run as Administrator".
  • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
  • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
  • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
  • Post the contents of JRT.txt into your next message.

Bleeping madman I got 2 of the 3 things you had asked to do.

1) run FSS OK and the log was generated.

2) ADWcleaner downloaded and opened OK but when i selected "Clean" it was grayed out and it took no action.

3)JRT downloaded and ran OK log generated.

Thanks

Cindybear

The issue is probably that you need to let it run its course and download the updates, as I am thinking that it is Windows Update process that is also called via svchost.exe that is taking up the most CPU. I get it on my xp VM's and on an XP machine.

cryptodan you are correct I let the computer download the M S updates and it took awhile but it got most of them. 2) I then downloaded Avast and that installed good no trouble. 3) I then went to windows update and it would not let me update until active x download control was installed finally got that from Cnet and downloaded all security updates, but silverlight "KB2890788".

Do I need this update?

Is  there anything that I am missing?

Thank You for the info

Cindybear

Ps the computer seems to run better, the cpu is up and down like it probable should be.

cryptodan; I have tried to download silverlight from the site you posted, it downloaded to my download folder but would not install.2) I tried to delete silverlight 4 from control panel but it comes up process terminated and my processer has gone back to 100%.

SVChost.exe

lsass.exe

the two of these processes have taken all of the cpu.

Thanks

Cindybear
