Hey everyone!

My company wants to start up an internal Intranet. One which you can only access on the server.

We already have one but its not great it's outdated and it's extremely slow.

At the moment I've been playing around with Google sites (we have a Google Licence) and it seems like a great alternative.

Also do you have any alternatives to Google sites?

Thanks,

Darktune

Ah right of course I forgot that.

Basically we need it for heavy calender use. The programs we are using are both compatible with Google calender and Microsoft Outlooks calender.

We will also use the website for occasional alerts such as "E-mail going under maintenance".

What about Sharepoint? Should handle everything, uses Windows Authentication too

That would be my recommendation also. Unless you are not a Windows shop.

The only problem with sharepoint I guess is the price. I forgot to mention this we are a non-profit business.

Non-profit is not hte same as 'no money in the budget for software. ;)

An internal internet can be set up simply using a LAMP or WAMPP stack. Allow connections from the internal network only. WEbsites can be dead simple to create, or as complex as you want them to be. There are plenty of frameworks to aid in creation.

You right there except there is no money and me and my line manager just spent 30% over our budget on re-wiring the whole building haha.

But I will take your points on board, thanks!
