One day my internet was working, the next day it was not. I have an acer aspire s3 with a Qualcomm Atheros AR5BMD222 Wireless Network Adapter. The OS is windows 8 and the driver is I have tried unplugging and replugging in my wifi router and the modem multiple times in everyway possible. My mother's computer works and my tablet works, still nothing for my computer. I looked at my devices and under "network adapter", I clicked on the qualcomm icon to check its properties window. Under the "general" tab it says that my adapter is working fine. Trying to update driver results in it telling me this is the best software for this adapter. Finally, I just plugged in a cable from my usb port to the modem, and now I have internet. Unplugging it results in a lingering internet connection that eventually drops to limited and then to nada. I am in the same room as the modem and the router. What is going on here?

Try reinstalling your Atheros driver from the Acer support link by Search Product Model - Ultra thin - Aspire - S3 -XXX and current operating system.

http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers There is also a possibility that the laptop is having interferences issues. http://www.vitalbodies.net/site/tech-web/tech/153-how-to-resolve-intermittent-wifi-connections.html
