Lack of Sound on my 8500

Well I did just about everything to get my sound back, even reinstalled drivers. Still wouldn't work so Iam crawling on the floor to check connections. I'm under my desk and so is my Border Collie "Jack". Nothing wrong except Jack has a wire in his mouth. I take the wire and plug it in and sound appears. Jack lays under my desk and I honestly think he thinks that he is a technician!!!!
