Hello,

My windows 7 pro machine has recently stopped doing updates. The initial error I was getting was 80244019. That was with my DNS pointed at opendns. After pointing my dns at google. I now receive the 8024402C error when trying to update. I have done many troubleshooting steps but cannot seem to nail down why this happened or how to fix it. I have had no sign of infections or other strange behavior. Have ran many scanners but found nothing.

A couple of the troubleshooting steps I've done is to run the microsoft windows update troubleshooter, sfc /scannow, and ran the tweaking.com - windows update repair tool.

Thanks,

Frost

Have you tried not using Open or GoogleDNS and instead use your ISP's DNS Servers?

Did I put this in the wrong forum? Should it be moved to get more responses?

I am so sorry for the late reply, but I will post more information about this when I get home from work.  That should be around 0630EST 1130UTC.

It sounds like there is an issue with your underlying networking protocols.

I have reviewed that document. I removed my AV from my machine. I don't have a wsus server and I'm not connected to a domain. I checked my IE proxy settings. Auto detect is turned on. I'm not sure what else to look at for DNS settings.

Thanks

I haven't had any luck solving this windows update problem. Any other suggestions?

Ok I tried the follow and failed on the first command. regsvr32 qmgr.dll. The error I got was the module "qmgr.dll" was loaded but the entry-point DllRegisterServer was not found. Make sure that "qmgr.dll" is a valid DLL or OCX file and then try again. Should I proceed with out it?
