I found a program in task manager called jim.exe and ended it and  its now normal - my name is jim , and forgive me but I don't know what this .exe is - ran malware several times - now I have to task manage this every time I boot up-

what is this .exe? apparently it does not do any good since my puter works better without it

Try to use msconfig from the run box in the start menu to check what services and startup applications are starting with your computer.

Here is how (assuming that you are running Windows 7)

If it still returns after using msconfig, then try autoruns and go to the logon tab and see if you can uncheck it.

Ok, I unchecked the box in Autoruns directly in front of the now notorious "jim.exe" file and re started it and it came back on at startup- also I tried a delete from Autoruns and it wouldn't let me

If it is still coming back after you ran autoruns then I am with Ham on this one and would suspect Malware. Ham can move this topic to the more appropriate forum.

I have no idea how to get rid of this malware I have at startup called jim.exe

autoruns did not work

Microsoft Sec. Essentials did not see it on a full 3 hour scan

AVG did not either

Malware Bytes cannot complete a full scan on my machine

I have logs from farbar if anyone wants to see them as long as you don t mind a few bit torrents in the log

Aslo, its my first time here so I don't know how to get into other forums

thank you

Most Anti-virus programs have an option to remove/block a program or file from being opened/executed. This is useful for such a case and if you can find the file then try blocking i with some free anti-virus programs. Free only because its a simple idea, not something that should have to spend money on yet unless this becomes a large problem.

Some good Anti-virus's are:

http://download.cnet.com/Avast-Free-Antivirus-2014/3000-2239_4-10019223.html

http://downloads.gufile.com/V1/avg-antivirus-free?gclid=CJWb2JLO07oCFceDQgodEQUANw

http://us.norton.com/ (free with only a 30 day)

And there are many others out there.

if the program is blocked but keeps coming back, then it has a high chance of being maleware.

This will also help you

Hello, I moved this from Win 7 to the Am I infected forum as you probably are.

jim.exe is also known as VirTool:Win32/VBInject.gen!BW is a detection of an obfuscator used by particular malware. It is written in VB (Visual Basic). It attempts to hinder analysis and detection of the malware code it is applied to. The malware code runs in memory directly without being dropped as a file.
