Hi everybody...
I found this place a few days ago,and I think there are some very clever guys here that give great advice.
I would like to tell about my set up.
My experience with security on the internet,is based on 6 years use of a computer.
I think many people today don't realize just how much s*** there is outthere.
One of the first things I found out (after loosing a couple of computers),was that although you are behind a NAT router, its definitely not enough to use Windows "firewall".
Its almost certain, that sooner or later you will get a trojan downloader, etc into your machine (it WILL happened) ,and then the trojan can communicate with whoever.Because the Windows "firewall" only "protect" against inbound data. Clever eh?
Another thing I have noticed is,that although you have some of the best Antispy protection (Spysweeper etc) you will need a malware scanner, like Ewido too.
My set up as it is today is:Kaspersky Security Suite,Spysweeper, and the Ewido scanner. As I see it,these tools are totally necessary...all of them.
I know my "weak" point here would be the Kaspersky firewall, but until now,it has been excellent. But I guess Outpost Pro would be a hair better, and if I didn't have the NAT router,I would use that one,or Zonealarm Pro.(I have not used time on the Antispam feature in Ks suite because I have almost zero spam.
A good recommendation from me, would be to get the Ewido scanner as soon as possible. The Ewido is probably the one that find most crud here.
The Kaspersky suite,is about to be changed to the new KIS 6,that should be even better.
This set up dosent prevent everything, but it give me a reasonable feeling of being secure.
Thanks for reading sofar.
I hope everybody protect their computer seriously. Its necessary, more than ever. And the threats are growing.

That's a good start, Nevi, but I feel you could tighten up your security, a wee bit more.
I suggest you read this tutorial, when you get a chance:
