Tried running malwarebytes and removed two problems but did not fix the problem. McAfee still finding trojan and firewall continues to turn itself off. Help is appreciated on where to start. Thanks.

Virus I believe came off of a video file from a co-workers hard drive. I knew better than to install an unknown codec but it looked like the file for windows media player and started it without paying close enough attention. There was also no cancel button.

Will get DDS downloaded and a log up tomorrow. All I have at the moment is work access which I can not download from.

:welcome: to BC Forums, ars2210!!

Please do the following...

:step1:  Download the Farbar Recovery Scan Tool:

Link: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/farbar-recovery-scan-tool/

Select the version that applies to your system.

Save it to your Desktop.

Double-click the downloaded file to run it.

When the tool opens click Yes to the disclaimer.

Press the Scan button.

The tool creates a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory from which the tool is run (Desktop).

Please provide the FRST.txt in your reply.

The first time the tool is run, it also makes another log: Addition.txt

Also post the Addition.txt in your reply.

:step2:  Next, download the Farbar Service Scanner:

Link: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/farbar-service-scanner/dl/62/

Save to the Desktop

Make sure the following options are checked:

Internet Services

Windows Firewall

System Restore

Security Center

Windows Update

Windows Defender

Press: Scan

When done, FSS creates a log, FSS.txt, on the Desktop.

Please provide the FSS.txt in your reply.

Let's do the following and see what it can repair...

Since these steps involve editing the Registry, please create new Restore Point before proceeding.
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/697-system-restore-point-create.html
Select: Option Two

Now, please download the ESET ServiceRepair:
http://kb.eset.com/library/ESET/KB%20Team%20Only/Malware/ServicesRepair.exe

Save to the Desktop.
Double-click to run the downloaded file.

When the program runs, a prompt appears asking if you want to proceed.
Click: Yes

When the Services routine is Completed, you are asked to Reboot.
Click Yes to allow the reboot.

The tool creates a folder named CC Support on the Desktop.

>> Please provide the SvcRepair.txt in your reply.

Last, run the Farbar Service Scanner once again.
Select all the options.
Press: Scan

>> Please provide the new FSS.txt in your reply.

The ESET ServicesRepair did a good job on most of those entries. Still have a couple to fix...

:step1: Please download the following files and save them to your Desktop:

PolicyAgent:

http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/win-services/7/PolicyAgent.reg

RemoteAccess:

http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/win-services/7/RemoteAccess.reg

:step2:  Now double-click on the PolicyAgent.reg file.

A prompt appears asking if you want to merge the information contained in the file into the Registry.

Confirm the prompt to merge to your Registry.

Click: OK

:step3:  Next, double-click on the RemoteAccess.reg file.

Also confirm the prompt to merge to your Registry.

Click: OK

:step4:  Restart the computer.

:step5: On the Desktop, right-click the PolicyAgent.reg and RemoteAccess.reg, and select: Delete

:step6:  Also empty the Recycle Bin.

:step7:  When done, please run the Farbar Service Scanner once again, and post its FSS.txt report.

Also, what's the best way to check my external hard drive to make sure it didn't migrate over from my internal hard drive? Thanks again for you help.

:step1:  Please press the Windows key and the R key at the same time.
In the Open area, type: services.msc

In the Services console, make sure Security Center is there, and:
Startup Type is set to: Automatic (Delayed Start)
Service Status is set to: Started

Also, unless you intentionally disabled it, make sure Windows Update is there, and:
Startup Type is set to: Automatic (Delayed Start)
Service Status is set to: Started

When done, please run the Farbar Service Scanner once again, and post its FSS.txt report.

:step2:  For your external drive...

Please click on the Windows 7 Start button and then on Control Panel

In Control Panel, select the Folder Options link.

Click on the View tab in the Folder Options window.

In the Advanced Settings area, locate the Hidden files and folders category.

Check: Show hidden files, folders, and drives

Uncheck: Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)

Click Apply and OK at the bottom of the Folder Options window.

:step3:  Next, download UsbFix:

http://www.usbfix.net/

Press the green Download button.

Save to the Desktop.

Right-click the downloaded USBFix file and select: Run as Administrator

When a window requesting the connection of removable drives appears, please connect the problem USB external drive!

Press: Research

This option scans the connected drives, and reports its infected Files and Folders

When done, the program closes on its own, and a report appears.

(The report file is also found at C:\UsbFix.txt)

>> Please post the UsbFix.txt (Research) report in your reply.

:step4:   Once again, run USBFix as Administrator, but, this time, press: Listing

It creates a report of all the Folders and Files found at the root of every hard drive, partition, or removable drive connected.

>> Also post the UsbFix.txt (Listing) report in your reply.

Note 1: If USBFix does not run in normal Windows, please run in Safe Mode:

Restart your computer.

When the computer starts, tap the F8 key on the keyboard repeatedly until presented with the Advanced Boot Options menu

Using the arrow keys, select: Safe Mode

Press the Enter key on your keyboard to boot into the selected mode.

Note 2: If your AntiVirus program detects USB as malware, either let the AV program allow USBFix to run, or, temporarily disable your AntiVirus program:

Info - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/114351/how-to-temporarily-disable-your-anti-virus-firewall-and-anti-malware-programs/

When done with USBFix, re-enable your AV program.

Please run CKScanner (below), and post its result in your reply:

Download:

http://downloads.malwareremoval.com/CKScanner.exe

Important: - Save it to the Desktop

Double-click CKScanner.exe, then, click: Search For Files

When a list appears, click: Save List To File

A message box verifies the file saved.

Double-click the CKFiles.txt on your Desktop, and provide its contents in your reply.

Seeing some signs here that are not good...

In addition to the items found by CKScanner, which shows a cracked Adobe CS5 and Adobe Photoshop CS5, is your Windows 7 also a pirated copy?
