Hi,

I have recently been experiencing the BSOD on Windows 8 anytime the laptop goes to sleep. The laptop is quite new, and it is an Asus Zenbook UX32A-R3013H. This particular problems started a few days ago, and nothing has changed.

What should I do? Thanks in advance.

:welcome: to the forum mate.

Please follow the below steps.

:step1: Upload the actual crash dump files.

You will find the crash dump files inside C:\Windows\Minidump folder. To copy the dumps, disable "User Account Control" first. Otherwise you may receive a permission error. After disabling UAC, copy and zip most recent three or more dumps to a single file. Either attach the zip with next reply using "More reply options --> Attach files" or use a free file hosting site.

:step2: Publish a snapshot of your system using Speccy.

"Speccy" is a free tool which can list the hardware specs, temperature status, installed Windows updates, HDD SMART info etc of your system. Please read the below tutorial to know how to use "Speccy" to collect system info.

Don't paste the output displayed by "Speccy" here. Instead paste the web link it displays.

:step3: Minitoolbox log.

"Minitoolbox" can list all the installed programs as well as event log errors in your system. Download "Minitoolbox" from the below link.

Run the tool and only select the following tick boxes.

List last 10 Event viewer errors
List installed program
List users, partition and memory size
List Minidumps

Now click "Go" and post the output displayed in next reply.

Hi

Your issue seems to be caused by "Intel Storage" driver.

"Ultrabooks" use a feature called "Rapid start" which uses a small SSD as a cache between system and main hard drive. This particular setup is a headache and known to cause issues similar to yours. Let us try updating the drivers first.

 Hi again.
I did manage to download and update "Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver", but how do I handle number two?
Save, then open the zip.file and run "setup"? Edit: I get an error Message while trying to do this. Says something like "This systems does not meet the standard required for this installation."
Thanks in advance.
(It is by the way a Zenbook)

I have also got some Pictures regarding a driver that I suspect may have something to do with my problems.

Hi

The dump you uploaded shows the same exact version of the storage controller driver. It doesn't seems to be updated ( same driver dated from sept 2012).

Loaded symbol image file: iaStorA.sys
    Image path: \SystemRoot\System32\drivers\iaStorA.sys
    Image name: iaStorA.sys
    Timestamp: Sun Sep 02 06:31:24 2012 (5042AFE4)

Please try the below steps.

1. Uninstall Intel® Rapid Start Technology (Version: 2.1.0.1002) first and Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Version: 11.6.0.1030) from "Control Panel --> Programs" . Reboot the system when completed.

2. Install the latest Chipset driver from the below link.

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/confirm.aspx?httpDown=http://downloadmirror.intel.com/20775/eng/infinst_autol.exe&lang=eng&Dwnldid=20775&ProductID=816&ProductFamily=Software+Products&ProductLine=Chipset+Software&ProductProduct=Intel%C2%AE+Chipset+Software+Installation+Utility

Now the storage controller driver will be updated to a non RAID version. Let us check how the system works in this version.

3. The picture you posted shows a possible driver clash caused by the "Intel Wireless Display software".

Source : http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-Edge-S-series/Warning-USB-IF-xHCI-USB-Host-Contoller/td-p/973805

Please try installing the latest "Intel WiDi" driver from the below link.

Unfortunately, it did not seem to work. Consequently, the computer still crashes, and here is the most recent minidump file:  http://www.mediafire.com/download/akusitp55btrocc/110613-271421-01.dmp

Regarding 3; something has changed and it does not seem to be the main problem anymore (according to the computer it self)

Hi

Are you sure you uninstalled  "Intel Rapid storage", "Rapid start driver" and installed the chipset driver ?. New dump also shows same September 2012 version of the driver.

Hi

Since the original version Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Version: 11.6.0.1030) is uninstalled now, let us try updating it to the 12.8.0.1016 version which is released on 08/08/2013.

1. Open device manager and expand "IDE/ATAPI controller" . Check whether "Intel SATA controller" is listed there.

If yes, right click and choose "Uninstall". If option Delete driver for this device is present, please check it also. Now reboot the system and let it to auto detect the driver. Windows will now configure the default driver came with it. Check how the standby and hibernate works now.

2. If the issue remains (if only), update to the driver version 12.8.0.1016 from the below link.

Download and run "SetupRST.exe" and the driver will be updated .

Also make sure the power plan is set to "Balanced" : http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/778-power-plan-settings-change.html

That did not work either - all it resulted in was a forced recovery action.
I'll try downloading the last thing you gave me.

Is your laptop originally came with "Windows 8" installed or is it an upgrade from "Windows 7" ?.
