Hi, I was looking for a way to create a restore point in XP Pro on an external HDD. The reason is not important. Technically, is there any way I can do that? Can i select a destination where I want the RP to be saved? And also, if necessary, will I be able to restore a working session from an external USB drive/hdd?

If you want to save and restore your hd to and from an external hd (which is the best way to do it, by the way) you should use 3rd party backup software. I recommend disc imaging software such as Acronis True Image (not free) or Macrium Reflect (free).
