Hi all

I am a complete novice with this type of thing and would really appreciate some help.

The laptop won't read the USB stick in all three available connection points. I have already uninstalled the USB drive in safe mode and restarted the laptop - Windows builds the drive again automatically, but this hasn't helped.

I've also tried this to no avail - Start > Control Panel > search "troubleshooter" and then click "Troubleshooting" > Hardware and Sound > Configure a Device.

Has anyone got any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Hi

Further testing is needed.

1. Try the USB stick in another computer to see if it working or is the problem.

2. Try a different USB device in the computer and see if it is working.

3. Inspect the USB ports and device for Physical damage.

4. Test in safe Mode to see if some software is causing the problem.

What Asus Model laptop computer?

Do the USB properties look OK in the Device manager?

Good Luck

Roger

P.S. When You say

I have already uninstalled the USB drive in safe mode and restarted the laptop - Windows builds the drive again automatically, but this hasn't helped.

Are you saying You only removed the USB Stick from the device manager or the USB controllers?

Does the USB Stick show up in disk management? If so what does it show.

Control panel, Administrative tools, Computer Management, Disk Management.
