This is for my friend's MeMO Pad, she is pretty much computer & tablet illiterate. This is a ASUS ME 172V model. She says it was working fine, but now when trying tostart it up,it asks for a password. A password was never inputted so she is locked out.

she doesn't have many apps.etc. on it so in a worst case scenario she'd settle for reset to factory defaults but it's too new nd I couldn't find a manual on=line. She lives about 1000 mils away so trying to fix long distance. Thanks in advance for any help.

She never created a password? Has she tried a blank password?(not entering anything)

What caused this to happen? Did she download an app right before this occurred?

Netghost56 gave you some solid advice.

If, however, that doesn't work, try entering your Google account information as the data it's asking for. (If you don't remember, go here for account recovery.)

Otherwise, if there isn't anything important in the tablet, turn off the device.

Hold the volume-down and the power-on button so that the tablet boots into recovery mode.

Navigate with the volume buttons and select with the power button.

Navigate to, and select, the factory reset option. It will wipe all data, but you shouldn't be locked out anymore.

It depends on the speed of the tablet. But just a few minutes is typical.

I found a manual for it here. Not sure it it's going to tell you what you want to know, though. Most don't mention much about recovery.
