I have Office 2000 Suite running on Windows XP Home SP2. Has worked fine for years on this computer. Last week all of the applications: Outlook, Word, Excel all stop responding when I try to save as a file I am working in or insert a file into the document. I use Word as my email editor in Outlook. I have Wordperfect 9 installed by the PC manufacturer (Sony) and it works fine.
Why and how do I fix? I need my Office Suite!
Below is the HJT log I ran today. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

See my reply in this thread:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/50060/windows-patch-causes-problems-with-hp-kerio-software/

Your problem may be caused by a recent MS security patch. MS is planning to release a NEW and CORRECTED security patch this week to those computers that installed the automatic patch last week.

John

I did get an automatic download from Microsoft on Friday night 5/28/06. Now it seems to work fine.
I wonder if this happened to Bill Gates when he did his automatic update,,,,,,,, probably not.
Thanks for the response.

I am very glad the solution was as easy as waiting for the corrective patch and not something more profound. Sometimes, it seems, the patches can cause havoc because they are not thoroughly tested before release; I am sure Billyboy has automatic updates turned off and waits a week or so before downloading any of his company's patches.
Thanks for replying so we know your problem is solved.
Regards,
John
