I have tried to solve this problem by re installing Firefox and trying Chrome as well as IE.  I continually get the notice from whichever browser i use that it cannot find the web site.  It takes many tries before i am able to access the site.  I have scanned with Malwarebytes, SUPERantispyware and Avast and nothing unusual is found. It seems to be worse daily and is now starting to send me crazy!  It will even give me the same message when moving from one section of a site to another.

Thanking you for any help offered.  Regards.  JH

Sounds like it could be a damaged winsock file or dns issues.

Please try:

1. Open an elevated command prompt by typing cmd into the search box upon clicking the start orb.

2. When cmd.exe shows up on the list up top either right click it and choose "Run as Administrator" or press Ctrl + Shift and hit Enter.

3. Type netsh winsock reset

4. Let it reset the files and then restart your PC.

Also while doing that:

Please download MiniToolBox  , save it to your desktop and run it.

Checkmark all the  checkboxes:

Click Go and paste the content into your next post.

Also...please Publish a Snapshot using Speccy - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic323892.html/page__p__1797792#entry1797792 , *Please post the URL in your next reply along with the MiniToolBox results.*

The log you posted with MiniToolBox is not the entire log. Can you please go back and edit your post to include the entire log that it produced when you checked all the checkboxes.

Also the speccy shows this to be a Windows Vista machine, so this topic will need to be moved to the Vista forums.

Lets try something simple first and change your dns settings to not use your dhcp server for the address.

  1. Open Network Connections by clicking the Start button 4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33_47., clicking Control Panel, clicking Network and Internet, clicking Network and Sharing Center, and then clicking Manage network connections.

  2. Right-click the connection that you want to change *Local Area Connection*, and then click Properties. 18abb370-ac1e-4b6b-b663-e028a75bf05b_41. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

  3. Click the Networking tab. Under This connection uses the following items, click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)  and then click Properties.

  4. Go down to the dns settings and change it from obtain automatically to use the following.

  5. Type 208.67.222.222 for the primary and 208.67.220.220 for the secondary.

  6. Appy the settings by clicking ok, then ok again to close out the box.

  7. See if it makes any difference.

Error: (10/10/2013 00:27:54 AM) (Source: Dhcp) (User: )
Description: The IP address lease 192.168.1.100 for the Network Card with network address 001EEC202CB3 has been denied by the DHCP server 192.168.1.1 (The DHCP Server sent a DHCPNACK message).

Please try to release/renew your ip address to resolve this issue.

1.Press Windows+R to bring up the Run dialog box.
2.Type cmd then press ok.
3.In the command prompt that comes up enter ipconfig /release then press Enter.

4.In the command prompt now type ipconfig /renew to pull another ip address from dhcp.

5. See if it behaves any better.

Well Chris i think it has actually worked.  I have accessed about ten sites and what is more, everything came up at breakneck speed!  Amazing, thank you so much.  i will know more tomorrow when it has been tested fully but it has certainly done something beneficial. I haven't gone on to the second set of instructions though.  Is there any need?

Thank you once again.  Regards.  John.

If changing the dns settings has corrected your issue, and you're not seeing any more problems, then I would not continue on to the second set of instructions. However, if you start to notice problems regarding the error that I listed then I would attempt the steps I provided.

I hope it continues to work good for you, and you don't have any more problems. Let us know if we can be of any more help to you and happy computing :busy:
