Hi Everyone,

I have been trying to install a program (ZoneAlarm) and I keep getting error 1603.

I am told this is a Windows error but I cannot find any help for it.

Does anyone have a solution for this?

I am running Windows 8 64 Bit.

If anyone can help me with this I would really appreciate it.

Thanks for any help :)

Hi -

https://www.zonealarm.com/forums/showthread.php/79238-Error-1603-Fatal-Error-During-Installation-gt-You-can-not-install-2-different-ZA-ver?p=295646#post295646 < Z.A Forum link (2 others also)

This was Based on XP when released, but in Item #6 it refers to later versions.

Error 1603 is a generic system specific error generated by the Microsoft Windows Installer (MSI).

A few rough ideas -

Thank you Noknojon, I tried them all, none of them work. Nothing seems to works. I have full permissions on the computer, ran the Take Ownership program as soon as I got the computer.

I have been able to install TeamViewer without any problem since this happened so it seems I can install other programs.

I have removed everything pertaining to ZoneAlarm, still get the same error.

This computer is only about 7 months old, Windows is fully up to date and until now, I have had zero problems with it.

This just doesn't make any sense

Thanks again for your help.

If anyone else has any suggestions on how to make this install work, I would appreciate you sharing them
