Please help. I'll give you my situation as quickly as possible. This computer was recently infected with Worm_Netsky Q. I ran the fix tool and antivirus and it said it fixed the problem...although, nothing has changed. I run windows XP Home. Currently my email in Outlook express is freaking out and my home page is set to some ad page which I cannot change. My virus scans currently can't find a virus and nothing seems to help fix this. Here is my hijack this log, hopefully you can help me. If you need further info I can tell you everthing I know.

Hello MMIMFI and welcome to BleepingComputer.

It appears you may have two different anti-virus program runing (McAfee and AVG). This is not normally a good idea. Please pick one and remove the other.

It is a good idea to print or copy these instructions since you will not be able to access the Internet in SafeMode.

1. Download CWShredder from here.
After you download the program, unzip it to your desktop. Don't use it yet.

2. Download Ad-aware SE from here.
Install it. When you get the last screen, with the "Finish" button and 3 options, uncheck those three items. Open Ad-aware and click the "Check for updates now" link and install any updates. Close Ad-aware. Don't use it yet.

3. Copy the contents of the Quote Box below to Notepad.
Click File menu -> Save and name the file as fix.reg
Change the Save as Type to All Files
Save this file on the desktop. Don't use it yet.

REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\{0D721150-AEF3-457B-B03A-5097B623CE45}]
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Plugin6.DNSErrObj]
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\redalert.here]
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{444A5674-FF85-45D4-9AE2-4199D8D70C85}]

4. Download KillBox here: KillBox. Unzip it to your desktop.

Start Killbox.exe, select the Delete on reboot option.

Copy and paste the line below in the field labeled "Full path of file to delete"
C:\WINDOWS\System32\n1be3gco9jv48zdll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll

Then press the button that looks like a red circle with a white X in it.
When it asks if you would like to Reboot now, press the YES button.

Your computer will reboot. Using Windows Explorere (windows key+e) check if the file C:\WINDOWS\System32\n1be3gco9jv48zdll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll is still there. If it is repeat the use of Killbox. If not go to the next step.

5. Reboot into Safe Mode.

Start HJT and click on the SCAN button. Put a check mark in front of the following lines if they still show:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer,SearchURL = http://win-eto.com/sp.htm?id=543
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://win-eto.com/hp.htm?id=543
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://win-eto.com/hp.htm?id=543
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://win-eto.com/hp.htm?id=543

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {467FAEB2-5F5B-4c81-BAE0-2A4752CA7F4E} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\R8D81V~1.DLL

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Control handler] C:\WINDOWS\System32\ht1wc0h2uk0mthd.exe
O4 - Startup: PowerReg Scheduler V3.exe
O4 - Global Startup: winlogin.exe

O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\msjava.dll (file missing)
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Sun Java Console - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\msjava.dll (file missing)
O9 - Extra button: Related - {c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a} - C:\WINDOWS\web\related.htm
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Show &Related Links - {c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a} - C:\WINDOWS\web\related.htm

O15 - Trusted Zone: *.greg-search.com

O16 - DPF: {10003000-1000-0000-1000-000000000000} - ms -its:mhtml:file://C:\foo.mht!http://greg-tut.com/G7/chm10.chm::/ieloader.exe

O20 - AppInit_DLLs: n1be3gco9jv48zdll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll

With ALL OTHER WINDOWS CLOSED, click on Fix Checked.

6. Open Windows Explorer (Windows key+e), drill down and delete the following files if found:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\R8D81V~1.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\System32\ht1wc0h2uk0mthd.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\n1be3gco9jv48zdll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll.dll

7. Make sure all browser windows are closed and run CWShredder.exe. Start the program and click on the FIX button (not the "Scan only" button) and let it scan your computer.

8. Run Ad-aware, press the "Start" button, uncheck "Scan for negligible risk entries", select "Perform full system scan" and press "Next". Let Ad-aware remove anything it finds.

9. Double-click on the fix.reg file you saved earlier on your desktop, and when it prompts to merge say Yes. This will clear some registry entries left behind by the process.

10. REBOOT normally. Run HijackThis! again and post a new log.
