I have a coolmaster V6 GT.  Its a large heat sink with one fan sucking in form one side and blowing out in another.  It does spin but the rattling sound speeds up and slows down randomly.  I assume its because my fan is speeding up/slowing down.  I have no clue how to take it appart.  As for temperature, its still pretty much the same.

Are you certain that nothing is rubbing up against the fan?

According to this page:

The fans snap on and off.

Nope, I span the fan myself and didn't hear any rattling.

Could it be the mounting brackets coming loose?
