I'm having a problem with a Blue Screen! This is the 2nd time since September 22, 2013 this has happened! I have a Dell Inspiron 546 with Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3. The only  thing I have installed since this is happening is a new phone service called MagicJack. Not sure if this could cause the Blue Screen problem! Worked before MagicJack? Now BSODs right after MagicJack install? Sure sounds suspect to me; however to confirm that suspicion, I would recommend the following:

 

- Capture the BSOD minidump and post it for analysis.

- Look for an Event Log that is time-coincident with the BSOD and post it here.

 

We would be looking for a deviceID that was able to be identified as the cause of the BSOD or Log. Once known, it could be looked up and the device manufacturer could be identified.

Please download MiniToolBox  , save it to your desktop and run it.

 

Checkmark the following checkboxes:

  List last 10 Event Viewer log

  List Installed Programs

  List Users, Partitions and Memory size.

 

Click Go and paste the content into your next post.

You seem to have been desperately running various AV/antimalware programs...with remnants of some still remaining.

 

You don't seem to believe in installing Windows critical updartes.

How do I install Windows Critical Updates?

I did the Windows update and it says I already have all of the high priority updates! 

Is there a difference between high priority and critical updates?

Double click on BlueScreenView.exe file to run the program.
When scanning is done, go Edit>Select All.
Go File>Save Selected Items, and save the report as BSOD.txt.
Open BSOD.txt in Notepad, copy all content, and paste it into your next reply.

You only need to get one of these to run, not all of them. You may get warnings from your antivirus about this tool, ignore them or shutdown your antivirus.

  • Double-click on the Rkill desktop icon to run the tool.
  • If using Vista or Windows 7 right-click on it and choose Run As Administrator.
  • A black DOS box will briefly flash and then disappear. This is normal and indicates the tool ran successfully.
  • If not, delete the file, then download and use the one provided in Link 2.
  • Do not reboot until instructed.
  • If the tool does not run from any of the links provided, please let me know.


If normal mode still doesn't work, run the tool from safe mode.

When the scan is done Notepad will open with rKill log.
Post it in your next reply.

NOTE. rKill.txt log will also be present on your desktop.

NOTE Do NOT wrap your logs in "quote" or "code" brackets.

Not sure if it matters, but BluescreenView, Securitycheck and Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit would not load off of this computer. I had to use a different computer and save it to a flash drive than loaded it on this computer.

I don't see anything malicious there.

 

What kind of troubles did you have while trying to download our tools?

 

It looks like your BSODs come from portcls.sys which is your audio driver. You may need to reinstall it.

I clicked on the link and got a white screen. It said "Blank page - Windows Internet Explorer". Than a pop up said "To help protect your security, Internet Explorer blocked this site from downloading files to your computer. Click here for options..." 

So I clicked on the bar and clicked Download File, but it didn't load. I just got a white blank page!

 

I used a different computer and clicked on your link and it came right up!

 

How do I reinstall portcls.sys?

I followed the instructions in the link, but the same thing happens. (the white blank page)
