On Saturday my computer inexplicably stopped connecting to the internet and when I tried opening the Network & Sharing Center, it would freeze. Same thing when I tried to open the control panel or do any troubleshooting.
After many safe mode reboots, virus scans, searches on google, etc. I finally gave up and went through a complete restore to factory state. I backed my files up on an external hard drive. When I restored the computer, I replaced all my files in their original locations and went about my business. I went through all the Windows updates, installed Microsoft Security Essentials, Chrome, and Firefox. Everything was fine until Nvidia popped up saying the drivers needed updating. After rebooting from that update, the same issues as before popped back up. No internet, couldn't start any troubleshooting efforts, etc.
I thought maybe whatever the problem was intially was in my backed up files, so I restored again and this time didn't reinstall my backup. As of this moment, the only programs on the computer that were not part of the initial factory load up or Windows updates are Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Security Essentials, and Malwarebytes. The exact same issue has happened again and now I just don't know what to do. The scans have not found anything, and I am totally baffled.
The current state of the computer is that when I try to do a normal startup, Windows loads to a blank screen. On ctrl+alt+del the proper Windows screen and menu options show up, but when I select Task Manager it goes back to blank.
