trying to do a clean install on my son's laptop. Set BIOS to boot from USB CD Rom and second boot from HD. As soon as I start the computer, I can hear the install disk #1 starting to load, then the screen comes up with

Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:

1. Insert your windows install disk and restart (did it numerous times, no change, same message)

2. Choose your language, click next (can't get that far)

3. Click repair (can't get that far)

Status: 0xc000000f

Info:     the boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.

If I can't get past this screen, how am I to get Win7 on this computer?

What media are you using?  What is the origin of this "install disk"?

Sounds to me as if your system is trying to boot from the hard drive, not any other device.

System manufacturer and model?
