I'm running 64 bit windows 7 home premium  i7-3930, 16GB ram

lately my computer has had two symptoms:

- very slow

- applications crash frequently (especially on exit)

upon examining the task manager - there are many duplicate tasks (there are no other users logged in) ...it starts with two - but over time will increase to 5 or more open at one time and many of them are using 200K+ memory

If you try to end process it either doesn't go away - or gives an error that it can't be stopped.

I've tried running combofix, registry mechanic, cccleaner, ad-aware, malware bytes, spybot s&d (in safe mode and out) and i still can't get rid of it

ALso when i try to close applications (especially firefox and outlook) - it hangs - then the program crashes and has to be closed via the task manager.  After this happens - it is impossible to restart these apps without rebootin the machine.

any suggestions how to fix this error.

Since you have ran Combofix, which is a very powerful tool you may have compounded your issues.  As such it is not recommended to run that tool without supervision from a trained malware analyst.

Please follow the instructions in ==>This Guide<==.

Once the proper logs are created, then make a NEW TOPIC and post it ==>HERE<==  Please include the link to this topic in your new topic and a description of your computer issues and what you have done to resolve them.

If you can produce at least some of the logs, then please create the new topic and explain what happens when you try to create the log(s) that you couldn't get. If you cannot produce any of the logs, then still post the topic and explain that you followed the Prep. Guide, were unable to create the logs, and describe what happens when you try to create the logs.

Once you have created the new topic, please reply back here with a link to the new topic.

FWIW:  The fact that you have Registry Mechanic installed is not a good thing.  BC does not support the use of "registry cleaners/optimizers" for various reasons, with a primary one being the fact that they cause many system problems.  I suggest that you uninstall it.

Microsoft support policy for the use of registry cleaning utilities - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2563254

Registry cleaner - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Registry_cleaner

Registry Cleaner FAQ, PC Support - http://pcsupport.about.com/od/registry-cleaner/a/registry-cleaner-faq.htm

What are names of these duplicate processes in Task Manager?  Some processes may appear to be duplicates by name (svchost.exe), (browser.exes) and a couple of Windows processes...but these reflect dissimilar items in reality.  Example...each time a browser window is opened, a seemingly duplicate of the browser.exe should be reflected.

If you have any reason to suspect malware....please follow the suggestion by Cryptodan to iinitiate a topic in the Malware Removal Logs forum.  After that is done, this topic will be closed to avoid confusing suggestions.

You are welcome, and if you still have the logs for combofix attach those as well, along with your tdss logs as well.

Now that you have a properly posted malware log topic in the proper forum...this topic is closed.
