I have an Acer Aspire M5100

Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit

I have not been able to check for updates for months.  Everytime I attempt to install an update or search for new ones I get an error code.  I have searched many times for a solution on Goolge and followed the steps provided without success.  I have followed a forum post on this site and have not been able to fix it.

The error codes show up as 80096001 and 9c48

Any help would be really appreciated.

Thank you,

Jeff.

I have followed a forum post on this site and have not been able to fix it.

Please post the link or solution you have tried next time. Were you infected? Have you tried Windows Repair Tool?

Not sure how to post the link but my attempt is here.  This computer was infected in the past.  I am pretty sure I have not been able to check for updates since.

I have tried the windows repair tool option that pops up with the error code.

Thanks.

This computer was infected in the past.

We should atleast make sure that its not part of the problem. Have you posted in the Am I Infected to check for any remnants or lurking infections?
